Welcomhotel, Shimla
Shimla welcomed a new
hotel on its scenic hills with a Welcomhotel opening in Mashobra, Himachal
Pradesh (main image), in December 2020. It is the popular hospitality group’s
first foray into the mountain state, and this property is nestled amid a lush green
expanse with enviable vistas of the hills. The hotel, set against the unspoilt
backdrop of stunning Mashobra, has 47 rooms and suites, all of which offer
gorgeous views of the valley. The facade and interiors of the hotel are
inspired by the colonial past of Shimla, and transport guests to an old world
era with its sloped roofs, wood furnishings, and spacious balconies. Most
notably, the conscious hotel is taking a step towards sustainability and
respect for the land it is built on. Welcomhotel Shimla uses intelligent
technology coupled with eco-friendly wooden material and recycled water to cut
down on its ecological footprint. The in-house restaurant WelcomCafe Cedar
spotlights seasonal and local produce in its all-day dining menu to support the
neighbouring farming community.

collections of jewellery. Taking its name from the market, this luxury boutique
hotel goes one step further in its inspiration. The five grand suites of the
hotel are all named after precious jewels like Sona, Moti and Neelam, with the
tasteful decor of the opulent suites reflecting the names. The three-storey
property is built in a traditional Rajasthani style, with a spacious courtyard
