New Indian Hotels For Your Next Vacation

Welcomhotel, Shimla

Shimla welcomed a new hotel on its scenic hills with a Welcomhotel opening in Mashobra, Himachal Pradesh (main image), in December 2020. It is the popular hospitality group’s first foray into the mountain state, and this property is nestled amid a lush green expanse with enviable vistas of the hills. The hotel, set against the unspoilt backdrop of stunning Mashobra, has 47 rooms and suites, all of which offer gorgeous views of the valley. The facade and interiors of the hotel are inspired by the colonial past of Shimla, and transport guests to an old world era with its sloped roofs, wood furnishings, and spacious balconies. Most notably, the conscious hotel is taking a step towards sustainability and respect for the land it is built on. Welcomhotel Shimla uses intelligent technology coupled with eco-friendly wooden material and recycled water to cut down on its ecological footprint. The in-house restaurant WelcomCafe Cedar spotlights seasonal and local produce in its all-day dining menu to support the neighbouring farming community.

Taj Chia Kutir Resort & Spa, Darjeeling

The Taj group of hotels has opened a new romantic property hidden deep within the sprawling Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Shrouded in a light mist on most days and bathed by mountain sunlight on others, the cozy property overlooks an unforgettable view of the rolling tea gardens and the lofty Himalayan range in the distance. The 72 stately rooms come decked with four-poster beds and dark wood interiors that add to the romance. The 22-acre estate it sits on was founded in 1859, and grows certified organic tea. This presents the perfect opportunity for tea-loving guests to experience a unique stay spent sipping on high-quality tea with their morning breakfasts with a view, partaking in tea-tasting sessions with the estate’s sommelier, and going for the invigorating activity of tea harvesting at the estate known for being the world’s first tea factory!

The Johri, Jaipur

The Johri is an exquisite property that pays homage to Jaipur’s jewellery and its glittering past. It is situated in the heart of Johri Bazaar, the vibrant and bustling market in the capital city of Rajasthan, which is famous for its stunning collections of jewellery. Taking its name from the market, this luxury boutique hotel goes one step further in its inspiration. The five grand suites of the hotel are all named after precious jewels like Sona, Moti and Neelam, with the tasteful decor of the opulent suites reflecting the names. The three-storey property is built in a traditional Rajasthani style, with a spacious courtyard in the middle. It is actually a regal old haveli that has been converted into the boutique hotel. The Johri has already started attracting travellers with its good looks, and comes with a vegetarian restaurant, cozy bar, and personalised services with an eye for detail.

It boasts  104 spacious rooms with ample nooks and corners spread across the hotel that make it inviting and homey. The hotel also has a shiny restaurant simply called The Hub, which features an all-day diner, a picturesque patio to enjoy crisp Dilli winters, and a cocktail bar.
