Retinol
Retinol is one of the skin repair a superheroes. It fights wrinkles, acne and skin pigmentation such as no other. This one is at the top of our list of ingredients to utilize at night.
Several would lead you to believe that the reason for this is due to retinol will make the skin sun sensitive. Well, that is partly right. But the real scientific cause is that Retinol is sensitive to sunlight. The UV rays of the sun deactivate a retinol. So, if you apply a retinol product and expose the skin to daylight, it would be a less effective.
Exfoliating Acids
AHAs and BHAs are our favorite ingredients when it comes to regular chemical exfoliation. These ingredients slough away dead skin cells that cause a dullness and breakouts. They even promote a healthy cell turnover. In short, they can provide you a blemish-free skin which is as smooth as a baby's bum!
Ingredients like glycolic acid and salicylic acid decrease the protective barrier while they are at work. These are the ones that make the skin sensitive to a heat, wind and light.

Necessary oils however, can induce skin irritation when exposed to heat, sweat and UV rays due to the methoxypsoralen that they contain. Moreover, heavy face oils can cause dirt and bacteria to stick to the skin.
Night Creams and Sleep Masks
These creams are a heavier and designed to form a nourishing layer on the skin to repair it overnight. The outcome is hydrated and nourished, plump and rejuvenated skin in the morning. But products meant for the night are even slightly occlusive. They may interfere with the normal secretion of sweat and sebum during the day directing to congestion and breakouts.
