  India has hilly areas in its northern region, deep forests in the north-east region, bays and season on the east-southern and west-southern side, and Decans in the middle and proud river beds in the basins of the western and eastern ghats. All these topographical areas boast a different set of plants, trees, and vegetation which contribute to the variation we were talking about in the beginning. All these regions have trees that are found particularly in the Indian subcontinent. So today in our article we’ll be talking about the various variety of trees found in Indian Geography.

1. INDIAN MAHOGANY

Scientifically recognized as the Swietenia Mahogani, this tree is popular among Music fans as the trunk of this tree is utilized to make furniture and musical instruments. This one is popular in the world for its durability and beautiful color tones.

It is even an vital medicinal plant and is widely used in Ayurveda. The close relative of this one is Chikrasi which is scientifically recognized as Chukrasia Tabularis.

2. ASHOKA TREE

This one is scientifically recognized as the Saraca Arosa. This one is famous for its thick foliage which is evergreen and has fragrant flowers and a pointed top. This one has scenic properties as it has beautiful flowers that bloom and blossom in the months of February to April and are popular for their bright yellow and orange colors.

3. GULMOHAR TREE

Its scientific name is a Delonix Regia. This tree is famous among Indians as the symbol of Love. The Gulmohar Tree has a broad canopy and its flowers are large and flamboyant which are orange in color and due to  these features it has high ornamental value.

This tree’s wood is utilized  to make agricultural implements and handles for different carpentry tools and combs hold etc. Apart from that, this one is even used for burning purposes in bonfires in the upper Himachal region.

4. CURRY TREE

Its scientific name is a Murraya Koenigii. As the name suggests, this one explores a special way into the Indian dish: Curry. 6. BANYAN TREE

Its scientific name is a Ficus Benghalensis. It is the national tree of the India and is popular for its aerial prop roots. This one carries high value in the Hindu and the Buddhist faiths. It can be known from a big canopy. It speaks for  life and fertility.

7.SAL TREE

Its scientific name is a Shorea Robusta. This tree is popular for its timber which can further be utilized for making furniture, decorative wooden hangings, and certain wooden sports implements.

8. ARJUNA TREE

Its scientific name is a Terminalia Arjuna. This tree is popular for its fibrous woody fruit and has found a way to the describe ‘Man vs wild’ for its re-hydration properties. This tree is famous  for its usual location which is discovered primarily on the banks of rivers. It is even  used in Ayurveda for the treatment of heart disease. It is sacred in Buddhism and is recognized as the Guardian of heart.

9. NEEM TREE

10. SAPTAPARNI

This plant has a scientific name as a Alstonia Scholaris. This tree is recognized as the devil tree and is discovered primarily in Bengal. It is original to the Indian subcontinent as is the state tree of West Bengal.

11. DEODAR

Its scientific name is a cedrus deodara. These trees are primarily discovered in the Himalayan region. They hold high value in Hinduism and are developed as ornamental trees. They even hold a special place in Ayurveda.

12. EUCALYPTUS

This tree is developed widely in the Indian region mainly on the roadsides to counter the pollution in sub-cities and towns. They have a signature essence and are discovered primarily in the Nilgiris Hills and South India. These are flowering and plant trees.

13. TENDU

Its scientific name is a Diospyros melanoxylon. Its mostly known as the Indian ebony tree and is known as Kendu or tendu in the state of Chhattisgarh. It’s famous among smoking fans as its leaves are utilized to make beedi. This one even  found its way while differentiate the jhoom farming when the east India company first visited the India.

14. BABUL

Its scientific name is a Vachellia Nilotica. It is an invasive species which is recognized by the name the Indian Acacia Tree. This tree is Cattle’s pedigree and is even used as a constituent in Toothpastes along with Azadirachta Indica which is commonly recognized  as Neem. It even has medicinal properties and thus searches its way into the cosmetics world.

15. TEAK

This one is even known as the Sagwan Tree. This tree is decided an option for Timber as this one can deter termites on its own. This is a flowering part which is native to the Asia and mainly India. It is utilized for making furniture, flooring and is home to Hyblaea Purea moth, Caterpillar, and Timber Termite.
